Lüderitz was the setting of the early diamond rush. Since then all that remains of this era is Kolmanskop, the early mining town, now a completely deserted ghost town. Another previously busy mining town is Elizabeth Bay, which early last century was Lüderitzbucht itself. Fly past the famous rock arch Bogenfels to Aus where you stop over to view the wild horses of the desert.
