The Eye Of The Flyer

Namibia From Above

Namibia from the skies tells stories you don’t always see from the ground.

From animal tracks winding through dry riverbeds, to desert horses surviving against the elements, to landscapes that change with the first touch of rain. This is a country best experienced from above.

The Eye of the Flyer is a collection of these moments, captured during flights across Namibia by Desert Air pilots and travellers alike. Every image offers a different perspective — from shifting dunes and rugged coastlines to wildlife and remote landscapes.

Whether you are a professional photographer or simply someone who didn’t want to miss a once-in-a-lifetime moment, we invite you to share your view. Each month, we feature a Photo of the Month, celebrating Namibia from above.

Flying Above the Endless Dunes of the Namib Desert

Flying alongside the endless dunes of the Namib Desert. Shaped by the wind over millions of years, these dunes remain one of Namibia’s most iconic landscapes and a favourite sight for both pilots and passengers alike.

The Caravan Clan

Rain showers sweeping across the African landscape during a flight from Windhoek to Kasane in a Cessna 208 Caravan. The rainy season brings life to the bush below and creates some of the most spectacular views a pilot can experience.

Proud Namibian Moment Captured In Flight

A proud Namibian moment captured in flight. As we celebrated Namibia’s Independence Day on 21 March, this image served as a reminder of the country we are privileged to call home and the skies we are fortunate enough to fly through every day.
